Which is the best wine to combine with paella?
The paella is an identifying dish of Spain, its name comes from the container which is prepared “la paellera”. It is originally from Valencia, prepared from rice combined with rabbit meat, chicken, duck, snails and various vegetables, especially the demijohn in the Valencian paella. It has varied ingredients depending on the community where it is made, we can find mixed meat and seafood paella, vegetable paella or fish and seafood paella. Depending on the ingredients of the pella we are going to eat, we can pair it with wines that we will recommend.
For a paella that combines vegetables and meat, a young and rather mild red wine is perfect. For example a J.L Ferrer Añada Roble with a great fruity taste. We also recommend for this type of paella any aged wine such as J.L Ferrer Crianza or a Gran Son Puig.
Fish and seafood paellas combine very well with white or rosé wines, i.e. wines with very fresh and fruity flavours as it is normally a dish that is consumed in spring or summer. Ferrerico white wine, a tasty Son Puig Blanc Barrica or a fruity one like Veritas Roig or a Son Ramón Rosat.
