Paella is a dish identifying Spain, its name comes from a pan in which it is prepared, the “paellera”. It comes from Valencia and is prepared with rice combined with rabbit, chicken, duck, snails and different vegetables, especially “garrafón” beans in the Valencian paella. The ingredients vary from one community to another so we can find mixed paella with meat and seafood, vegetable paella or fish and seafood paella. Depending on the ingredients of the paella you are about to have, you can pair it with wines we recommend you.
Paella that combines vegetables and meat is perfect to pair with rather mild young red wine. For example J.L. Ferrer Añada Roble of great fruity flavor. Also, for this type of paella it is recommended any crianza wine, like J.L. Ferrer Crianza or Gran Son Puig.
Paella with fish and seafood pairs well with white and rosé wine of fresh and fruity flavour, as it is a dish that is usually consumed in the spring or in the summer. White wine Ferrerico, a tasty Son Puig Blanc Barrica or a fruity one such as Veritas Roig or Son Ramón Rosat.
But as with everything, to each his own, so discover which wine is best for you to pair with paella. In Sabor de Mallorca you will find a great variety to choose from!
